About Me

“I utilize a personable approach based on trust, compassion, and empathy.”

Carla Delcambre, APRN

My journey towards becoming a Nurse Practitioner began while working as a mental health counselor. Recognizing the need for additional ways to support my clients, I observed their resistance to medication but their trust in my guidance. Understanding their concerns and fears, I sought to provide them with options that considered these factors. This led me to pursue a career as a nurse practitioner, allowing me to combine counseling with the ability to offer diverse treatment options for improved mental health. In my practice, I prioritize trust, compassion, and empathy, ensuring my clients feel empowered and confident in their decisions regarding their care.

When working with me, it is essential to know that I am genuinely invested in getting to know my clients on a personal level. I strive to understand their struggles, past traumas, goals, and home lives. I view my clients as individuals rather than mere statistics, and my commitment lies in providing empathic and personable care to all who seek assistance.

As a provider, I continuously engage in self-reflection to identify how my own values and beliefs may influence the care I provide. I actively check any biases that may interfere with my work, ensuring that each client receives optimal care regardless of factors such as race, political affiliation, personal history, gender, or sexual orientation. By being introspective and open to learning, I aim to foster open conversations and address issues without stigma.

My core values shape my approach to care significantly. Being an Afro Latina who has experienced discrimination, marginalization, and feelings of being left alone solely due to my existence, I empathize with the struggles faced by many of my clients. Recognizing the uniqueness of each individual's human experience, I strive to create a welcoming and accepting environment for everyone. Challenges that arise serve as opportunities for me to learn and be educated by my clients or colleagues. Ultimately, my approach is driven by a desire to serve and support my clients, ensuring they know that they are deserving of the care I provide, without any sense of owing me in return.

Within the evolving mental health landscape, I am particularly enthusiastic about the increasing openness surrounding discussions of mental health issues. The normalization of topics such as medication usage and therapy is an exciting development, as it reduces the stigma associated with seeking help. Moreover, I look forward to the accessibility of high-quality mental health services through mobile devices and computers, enabling more individuals to receive the support they need.

In summary, I do not have a preference for any particular type of client. Instead, I see individuals in need who will benefit greatly from the compassionate and personable care I offer. My commitment is to provide unwavering support and understanding to all those I serve, without any favoritism or expectation of gratitude.
